Hi, I’m Helen — and I’ve been working with business tech for longer than I care to admit.
For nearly 20 years I’ve worked in the niche field of legal technology; reviewing software, testing systems and deciding what’s actually fit for purpose (and what’s just shiny marketing).

Before that, I was running and managing 30+ sales websites as a webmaster — back when building sites meant rolling your sleeves up and figuring things out the hard way.

But I have never thought of myself as remotely “techie”.
I have no whizzy IT background and I am not a tech geek.
But I do like tools that make life easier.
And just between us, I have very little patience for when things don’t work well.

On the side, I run a small business which means I have had first hand experience of the hustle of starting up and sourcing the tech needed to get business done.
Everything I recommend here is stuff I’d genuinely use myself, from website builders to accounting software to the small bits of kit that just makes life run more smoothly.

This site is simply me sharing what works.
